Culture Eye

The culture eye project was developed as a device that helps researchers track their cell cultures. Its innovation is that it offers at a low cost the possibility of culture inspection online while not requiring the presence of researchers in the laboratory. There was developed a software that calculates through image analysis useful numbers, such as the culture’s growth rate, and notifies the user when to perform specific actions.

Our team received the First Place Award at the “Innovative Design” Competition, organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering of NTUA, in September 2012, with our work on the “Design and Development of a Cell Culture Monitoring Device”, K. Machairas, N. Liakopoulos, advised by Assistant Professor Leonidas G. Alexopoulos.
